Main Upgrades from the Previous Year
The interior design for this year’s lineup has been upgraded, with a new touchscreen display and an infotainment system that includes a built-in Amazon Alexa. It also received a new grille and a redesigned center control display. There’s a lower rear bumper and slim LED headlights on the exterior.
Interior Layout and Options
The cabin of this lineup comes with an air quality sensor and a two-zone climate control system. There are cup holders for front and rear passengers and illuminated vanity mirrors. The rear seats are foldable, increasing cargo capacity considerably. This lineup has ebony perforated-grained leather and suede cloth seats with an ebony interior. The 14-way heated, driver-memory front seats are also standard.
All models have a universal remote garage opener, auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror, and cabin lighting. The R-Dynamic trim has exclusive metal front tread plates and a heated steering wheel. There are passive front and rear center headrests for all models.
Exterior Layout and Options
The entry-level model has privacy glass, an acoustic laminated windshield, and rain-sensing wipers. There are anti-trap electric windows with one-touch open/close features. The door mirrors are power-foldable, with auto-dimming driver-side and approach lights. The S model has unpainted brake callipers and 355mm front and 325mm rear brakes.
The HST model has an exclusive badge, sliding panoramic roof, tailgate spoiler, and heated rear window with a timer. This model also has gloss black, 5 split-spoke 21" style 5047 wheels, a premium LED headlight with signature DRL, a powered tailgate, and a trunk lid.
Technology, Infotainment, and Connectivity
The Velar R-Dynamic S and HST models have a Meridian sound system; the flagship model has a Meridian 3D surround sound system. There’s SiriusXM Satellite radio and HD radio for the HST, as well as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth connectivity for the whole lineup. All models have a cargo space cover, lockable glove box, and keyless entry.
The infotainment system is managed with Pivi Pro, an intuitive touchscreen interface with an 11.4-inch display. It’s also equipped with real-time traffic information, 2D and 3D maps with automatic updates and information about nearby fuel and parking services. All models come with analogue dials with a central TFT display. It has a 5-inch instrument panel where you can control driver assistant options, a head display, and a trip computer.
Safety and Driver-Assistant Features
This lineup has many driver-assistant features, making the new Velar one of the safest SUVs. Basic features include emergency braking, lane keep assist, driver condition monitor, traffic sign recognition, front and rear parking aid, adaptive speed limiter, and a blind spot assist pack.
